Don’t know if any of you have spent ages gazing at a computer screen trying to read loads of info from books etc. Trying to mark assignments on screen is just murder, all you end up with is baked eyeballs! The iPad of course is a great improvement but it looks like we might be using much better screens on our tablets by mid-2012. At least that is what Gizmodo reported on June 7th. Now you’ll be able to carry all those student assignments in your tablet and mark them sitting in the garden, in the sun with no problem
Just had a quick mooch round the Education Apps available at the iTunes App Store. Some great stuff for young children and somewhat fewer apps for the older ones. There were some good ones such as Star Walk for iPad but why, why is there no UK stuff on there? Surely we have people producing these types of apps – don’t we?
This interesting little piece I found isn’t directly about technology. The people at Per Square Mile recorded the density of population in a number of different cities. They then asked what if the whole world’s population lived in one city at this density, what size would the city be? Food for thought – look at some of the comments.
Oh yes, and last but by no means least. What is your university doing for the community – do you know?
