This is "me"

Wow, a busy day here, there and everywhere! As a result I’m a bit late getting this out to you today. Lots of people busily Twittering at #altc2011 may be I’ll chat a bit about it tomorrow. Today though I’m just going to tell you about some events that you might like to sign up for.

There are just a few places remaining on the Virtual World Conference run by the Serious Games Institute at Coventry University. “The Virtual World Conference is an annual conference exploring the uses of virtual worlds for learning, collaborative work and business”, and takes place all day on September 14th. The cost for this twenty-two and a half hour event is £45.00, it starts at 0130hrs UK time and finishes at midnight.

Another Virtual Worlds event is on 20th September. The big Open University ReLive2011 Virtual Worlds conference is completely booked but the Festival which is run from within Second Life, occurs on the second day of the live conference. The Festival is completely free of charge and lasts from 0900-1600hrs UK time.

The Guardian newspaper’s Higher Education Network is also running a conference on September 22nd in London. “Using social media to enhance student experience” is £139.20 for the one day event if you are a member of the Guardian’s Higher Education Network and £174.00 if you are not. The conference brings together, “two concurrent issues in higher education; the role of social technology and the increasing importance of student experience”.

Another event which should prove very interesting is the one being run by UCISA on 18th January 2012. Called, “Using social media to communicate” this event will be held in Birmingham. The cost is £105.00 for members and £165.00 for non-members.

If I hear of any others I’ll let you know 🙂
